I do have to say though that I am overly impressed with primary children's hospital, for a hospital the atmosphere is happy and bright. We had a turtle and a big smiley face sun painted on our ceiling. It helped me, the mother, through this experience. We also were blessed with the nicest nurse ever, we called her 'D' She was so caring to Abby, I felt she loved her and wanted the best for her.
We had to stay the night, it was a long 24 for a baby who just started walking, staying on Mommy's lap all day was not on her agenda. Mark and Ry came to pick us up after a night of little sleep. When Ry saw us he got the biggest smile and hugged us. He is such a loving child. On our way home I had a sense of great peace and gratitude that we were able to take Abby home without complication. I thought of the many mothers (parents) that come and go from that hospital, while most leave with children on the mend my heart ached for those who are not so lucky; for those have been dealt a more difficult trial.
Abby hasn't been herself since the surgery, she has been a little more temperamental, she also hasn't been sleeping much, one night she was up from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. crying uncontrollably. At 6 she passed a large mushy stool. Still no relief from the crying, then 5 min. later I hear another rocket come out of her this time it was full of blood and mucus. From the moment she passed that stool she had stopped crying, which was a small relief. I called her GI Dr. in the morning and thankfully I was able to just talk to her over the phone and get a prescription for her which helps bind the acid in her tummy. So far it seems to be working. I haven't seen any more blood and she is back to her happy-go-lucky self! I really hope this cures her from sleep apnea, I could really use a break from the health problems before we have another child.
