Vacation Time

We finally went out on our vacation and let me tell you, it was wonderful, relaxing, peaceful, beautiful, fun, and much needed! We split our time in two. The first half of the trip was in Las Vegas and the second half was in St. George. We went to Vegas because we got a 3 night free stay at the Riviera. It wasn't even worth staying there for free. I was scared to let the kids on the floor, let alone sleep in the bed! It was slimy, smelly, and yucky. Needless to say I've learned my lesson. Free isn't always what it's cracked up to be. We ended up going to a Wyndham resort and we loved it!

While in Vegas we went to see some of the attractions there like the LDS temple, M&M factory (which was Ry's favorite, nothing makes Ry happier than chocolate), Treasure Island, Venetian, and Belagio. It was SO hot there (115 degrees ), we couldn't stay outside too long without being in a pool. We ended up swimming everyday.

Our second half of the trip was in St. George. We just relaxed, swam, and did a little sight seeing. All in All this was a wonderful vacation. As a child some of my fondest memories are times when our family went on vacation, and I'm excited to hopefully give my children great memories as well.

Vacation Doomed?

We were supposed to be vacationing in St. George right now..........BUT our dear little Abby got croup and the doctor advised us not to go due to Abby's apnea condition on top of croup, we could possibly need to take her to the hospital if her croup got worse. The Dr. gave her mild steroids to help her croup. Luckily they have really helped.........unluckily they have made her extremely fussy. The Dr. said she might get agitated, yeah that is putting it mildly.

Yesterday morning, (we were supposed to be traveling then) I went into the kitchen to make breakfast. I felt a rain drop....then another one ......then another one. I looked up and noticed our ceiling bulging with water dripping down, I yelled for Mark who came running. We went upstairs and checked things out. We later found that our faucet, which is only 10 months old, had a leak in the neck and leaked down the tubes all the way to our basement kitchen ceiling. We ended up tearing out part of our kitchen ceiling due to water damage. Lovely! There is nothing quite like the smell of wet drywall.

I am so grateful we decided to stay home due to Abby's croup. Had we left as planned we would have returned to a HUGE mess, it was truly a blessing. We are still going on vacation, just a few days later than planned. =)

That night our wonderful tenants (Cheryl and Malory) wanted to play with Ry. Ry loves them to death, they ended up running through the sprinklers together. It was cute. It was the highlight of my day. I don't know why we have been so blessed with great tenants. I consider them my friends rather than tenants. Basically friends who pay me money for living in my home =). Weird I know, but it works for us and has been an enormous blessing. (For those who don't know our home has a mother-in-law basement where we live and the girls live above us)

Christmas in July

Abby had her appointment with the pediatric GI specialist yesterday, I really love that Dr. She is wonderful, nice, funny, and best of all she doesn't make me feel like a dumb mother. I was so excited for this appointment it felt like Christmas day. I even had a dream the night before about going in for this appointment.

The Dr. spent 40 minutes with us and answered all my questions, she didn't seem rushed or anything.......wonderful! Anywho, she said that in 30% of kids who are on Prevacid (which Abby is) have troubles sleeping. Her first step in helping us is to take Abby off the Prevacid and put her on another medication. Which is actually an anti-histamine, this one will blocks acid production and help w/ any allergy issues that may have also contributed to her swollen larynx. I have a feeling this will help a little, but not solve our issues. I feel there will be more time spent with this Dr.

{For those who don't know the health issues with Abby, to make a very very long story short and simple, she was diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea. The obstruction is a swollen larynx (voice box) due to acid reflux hitting it and causing inflammation and redness. Her adenoids are bigger than normal as well, but not to the point that the ENT believes it is the major obstruction. As of now she is on two reflux medications and oxygen when she sleeps}

The Dr. laughingly joked that I could make an appointment when I'm pregnant with our 3rd then I wouldn't have to wait so long. I told her I was totally going to do that and she said great, when I make the appointment call it baby Roberts, and she will know who it is.

I am so thankful for amazing Dr's who take the time to listen to me and my concerns for my children. I'm not sure what I would do without them, I just want to bake them cookies!

After the appointment we went to Lone Star Taqueria in SLC. Let me just say one word AMAZING! It was the best Mexican food I have had in Utah. May I suggest the carne adovada (spicy marinated pork) burrito. Good thing I don't live closer to it, our out to eat budget would have to quadruple.
